Why do you participate in Artists@Work? What do you expect from this experience?

I am interested in collaboration with other professionals who share similar goals as I do: living in a cleaner and the more sustainable world. I believe this is a desire of every millennial out there who is interested in more prosperous and better world.

As I have traveled many times to France and Italy whose organizations are collaborating in this project, I can tell with a great deal of confidence that environmental awareness is at a higher level than in BiH.

I decided to join in Artists@Work for a simple reason: to upgrade and improve my technical skills in photography. I need a better understanding of how to use professional equipment and gear, how to find and create a light, how to process photography and communicate with the people via arts and artistic work.

I want to be an effective communicator on the topic of my concern. Additionally, I write blogs about fashion, environment, urban tourism and nutrition in my free time. I need skills that are required to present a better portfolio of my work.

In terms of my expectation, I plan to learn more (from other participants as well), really see how I can make a difference, establish professional connections, and perhaps create an initiative in the future.

Explain the main thematics of your project

There are two themes in my project:

  •  Air pollution in Bosnia and Herzegovina and particularly in Tuzla Canton

I plan to use newly acquired photography skills to produce a photo series capturing the impact of air pollution in my country. I will draw attention to those details that need to become visible to others - in particular legislators and decision-makers in this country.

  • Environmental degradation and pollution in our community.

This theme will be a cornerstone of photography of the main environment-related infrastructure, urban hygiene, people`s habitations  (urban dwellers) and everything else that will capture my attention through careful observation.

It may be how people throw away garbage, how they waste water, how they dispose of waste and spit on the streets, deforestation and loss of natural habitat in our mountains, overconsumption,

Explain the different stages of production of your work

1. I plan to directly highlight the enormity of this problem in winter months and beyond. For this reason, it is needed to make a visit to local communities while the heating season is ongoing to capture their daily struggles in a highly polluted environment.

2. I plan to write short stories on the Artists At Work Blog from time to time - inspiration related.

3. Observe environment on everyday-basis and focus on prodcing photos.

Explain the choice of the title

As an urban manager by profession with a specialization in urban energy systems, environmental management and climate change this is an ideal place for me to supplement my professional skills through artistical expression.
