Why do you participate in Artists@Work? What do you expect from this experience?

I'm a curios person, who love to discover knew people and connect stories. I think that Artist@work gives me the possibility to develop both personal and collective projects and to understand new sides of my research.

Explain the main thematics of your project

Together with Elena Mistrello (illustrator) we are developing a project called "Gender Panic? No Panic". Our research is about gender binarysm and self-determination identities processes. Starting from the case of Sonia Marchesi, the first trans-sexual woman who obtain the possibility to change her biographical data without surgey, we will create a short animated video about gender and sexual issues. We will also discuss about the italian law 164 of 1982, the legislative reference text that obligatorily defines the phases of the surgical re-distribution path and sexual registry. Our research is oriented by the following questions: what does it mean for a person to be judged by the state fot the change of gender identity? How to guarantee the inviolabolity of the right of self-determination and the free expression of everyone's gender and sexual identities? How can persoanl life histories putting in discussion gender binarysm by revealing how gender is a social construct?

Explain the different stages of production of your work

Our research concern different stages:

-speak with loyers, trans-gender and trans-sexual people, etc about our main topics

-develop a visual story

-shoot some clip

-illustrate and animate the story

Explain the choice of the title

Self-determination is the key concept of our project: you can choose to have more than one gender and sexual identities, to change idea about yourself duringour life, to be ambiguous...and if people around us felt "unsafe" by ambiguities we will tell us: No Panic!
